Perebutan juara pertama terjadi antara dua pembalap, yaitu Valentino Rossi dengan Alex Rins.
Sebenarnya, posisi pertama sebelumnya sudah dipegang oleh Marc Marquez.
Namun sayang terjadi insiden pada lap 9 ketika Marc Marquez memasuki tikungan 12.

Marquez mengalami low side crash, sampai terlempar ke gravel.
Sialnya, motor RC213V milik Marquez tidak bisa dihidupkan setelah terjatuh.
Begitu Marquez jatuh, Valentino Rossi yang berada di belakangnya memiliki kesempatan untuk meraih podium tertinggi.
Namun jelang beberapa lap terakhir, Alex Rins tampil sangat baik sehingga Valentino Rossi merasa tertekan.

Akhirnya kemenangan diraih oleh Alex Rins di posisi pertama, Valentino Rossi keluar sebagai runner-up, dan Jack Miller di podium ketiga.
